This explains what we collect when you play Aethermere or visit aethermere.com, why we need it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it. Last updated: 14 October 2026.
Aethermere is made and run by K. McColl in the United Kingdom. We are the "controller" of your personal data under the UK GDPR. If you have a question about your data, email support@aethermere.com.
| What | Why we need it | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|
| Your account: the username you choose, your password (stored only as a scrambled, salted hash; we never see or store the password itself) and the date you joined. | To let you log in and keep your account safe. | Until you delete your account. |
| Your characters: their names, looks, levels, items, bank, quest progress, where they are in the world and how long you've played. | This is the game: we need it to save your progress. | Until you delete your account. |
| Chat: what you type in local, global and private chat. | To pass it to the players it's meant for. | We don't save chat. The server remembers only each player's last 10 lines, in memory (gone when the server restarts), so that if someone reports them the report shows what they said. |
| Bug reports and feedback you choose to send: what you write, a screenshot of your game at that moment, your device type, screen size, game version and where you were in the game. | To find and fix the problem you're telling us about. A report about another player also carries their name and their last few chat lines. | Until it's dealt with, and at most until you delete your account. |
| Server logs: when someone logs in or fails to, with the username tried. Never passwords. The game does not record IP addresses. | To keep accounts safe (for example, to stop someone guessing passwords) and to fix problems. | Up to 30 days. |
| Email you send us at support@aethermere.com. | To answer you. | As long as we need it to help you. |
Our legal reasons for using this data are: to provide the game you've asked to play (your account, characters and chat); and our legitimate interest in keeping the game safe, fair and working (security logs and bug reports).
We don't sell your data, we don't show adverts, and we don't use your data to build profiles of you.
Other players see your character's name, look and what you say in chat. The hiscores show your character's name and levels to anyone.
The game remembers your settings on your device (sound, interface size, which tips you've seen and so on) so they're there next time. The website uses no cookies and no tracking, and loads nothing from other companies.
You can ask us to:
Email support@aethermere.com and we'll answer within one month.
Deleting your account: in the game, open Settings and choose Delete account. Your account is deleted 14 days later, so you can change your mind: log in before then and choose Keep my account. Once it's deleted, the last copies leave our backups within a further 14 days. If you can't get into the game, email us from anywhere and we'll do it for you.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We'd like the chance to put it right first.
You must be at least 13 to play. If you think a younger child has made an account, email us and we'll delete it.
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and tell players in game if the change matters.
